Our bi-annual Global Leadership Monitor reveals the top five external factors that leaders in Oceania believe will impact the health of their organizations over the next 12-18 months, and how well-prepared these leaders feel to address these impending challenges.

 

Economy is the top concern for leaders globally

Against the backdrop of a potential global recession and trade tensions, the economy weighs heavily on leaders globally, with 54% of Oceania leaders citing uncertain economic growth as a top concern. Related economic concerns also gained prominence with increased regulation surging from fifth to fourth place and geopolitical uncertainty from ninth to fifth place. In uncertain and tumultuous environments, decisive leadership actions are crucial in setting examples for the organization, distinguishing those who thrive from those who falter, and defining competitive success.

Technological change and availability of talent and skills remain significant challenges

In Oceania, more than half of the leaders identify technological change and the availability of key talent and skills as critical challenges. These two issues have consistently ranked among the top five concerns since 2021. Currently, 54% of leaders feel that their executive teams are equipped to handle technological change, reflecting a 13 percentage point increase over the past six months. Similarly, 46% believe they are prepared to manage challenges related to key talent and skills, which also represents a 13 percentage point improvement in the same period. As organizations continue to adapt, addressing these challenges remains a priority for sustained growth.
