Global Leadership Monitor - India H1 2026

Explore the top external business threats leaders in India face today—and how prepared they feel they are to manage them in our bi-annual survey.

In the rapidly shifting leadership landscape, what external business threats are India's leaders most concerned with today? And how are they prioritizing their efforts to navigate these challenges?

Our bi-annual Global Leadership Monitor tracks how Indian leaders perceive and prepare for key challenges impacting their businesses over the next 12 – 18 months.

Talent and geopolitics now jointly lead India’s risk agenda

Availability of key talent / skills and geopolitical uncertainty are India’s joint top threats, with 56% of leaders selecting each as a top five issue.

Talent remains a persistent leadership challenge, though it has eased from 63% in H2 2025 to 56% in H1 2026. Preparedness remains low: only 35% of leaders feel prepared or very prepared to address talent and skills availability, down from 46% in the previous cycle.

Geopolitical uncertainty has moved in the opposite direction, rising from 52% to 56% in H1 2026. Yet preparedness is even lower, at just 28%, making it India’s most acute readiness gap.

Technological change ranks third at 50%, down from 62% in H2 2025. However, leaders feel more prepared here than for other major risks, with 50% saying they are prepared or very prepared.

The leadership priority: capability and resilience

India’s leadership context is increasingly defined by the intersection of geopolitical risk, talent capability and technology-led disruption.

The next phase of growth will require leadership teams that can secure critical skills, anticipate external disruption, and use technology as a catalyst for more resilient, future-ready organizations.
