Katherine Armstrong conducts executive searches and advises boards of social impact organizations. On a national basis, she specializes in working with cultural, educational and philanthropic institutions, including a particular expertise in fine arts museums, natural history and science museums, historic preservation organizations, performing arts centers and other cultural institutions. Katherine has also conducted a wide range of executive searches for top-ranked private and public universities and colleges, community foundations and social justice organizations, recruiting deans, institute directors and senior diversity officers. She focuses primarily on CEO searches, and has extensive experience around succession planning and governance, as well as the recruitment of transformational executive teams. Katherine is a member of the firm’s Arts & Culture, Education, Diversity & Inclusion and Social Justice Practices. She is based in Boston.
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Katherine was with Dunleavy & Associates, where she specialized in providing professional services to nonprofit organizations, as well as leading engagements focused on strategic planning, marketing and fundraising. She has an extensive track record of working with executive leadership teams and boards of nonprofit organizations at local, regional and national levels, spanning health and human services, mental and behavioral healthcare, economic and community development, cultural and educational institutions and national foundations. During her tenure with Dunleavy & Associates, Katherine also co-authored a book with the CEO of a long-time client in the mental and behavioral health space.
Katherine received her BA in art history from Bowdoin College.
