Jim McHugh

Jim is a member of the firm’s Global Life Sciences practice, where he focuses on executive leadership across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors. He advises venture capital-backed and public company clients on the recruitment of Chief Financial Officers and other C-suite executives, with a particular emphasis on high-growth environments.

Nearly all of Jim’s work sits at the intersection of biotech and finance, and he brings a strong understanding of capital markets dynamics, investor expectations, and the evolving role of the finance function as companies scale. He has supported a range of mandates spanning emerging growth organizations preparing for financing or IPO, as well as more established companies navigating commercial launch, operational complexity or strategic transformation.

Based in New York, Jim partners closely with boards, investors, and executive teams to define role scope and deliver leaders equipped to operate in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
