Energy Matters Series: An Interview With Andy Brown CEO Galp

As part of our Energy Matters series, we interviewed Andy Brown on the big themes across the sector.

Our series, Energy Matters, brings industrialists and investors together to debate the big themes that matter across the energy value chain. Our aim is to build a community and to share learnings as we navigate the major challenges and opportunities created as we race towards carbon net-zero.

Through our conversations, we focus on the most impactful initiatives that both reduce carbon whilst generating shareholder returns – a tough ask.

In this interview, we are joined by Andy Brown, CEO of Galp. Andy is focused on Regenerating the Future of the company by thriving through the Energy Transition. A graduate Engineer from Cambridge University, he subsequently enjoyed a 35-year international career with Royal Dutch Shell in seven countries, responsible amongst other things for establishing and delivering Shell’s business in Qatar. During his last 7 years at Shell he served on the Executive Committee building, the world’s largest Integrated Gas business and as Upstream Director for integrating the acquisition of BG into the company.

Here, Andy shares his views on the big themes across the sector, including how to generate returns in the energy transition, the tensions between purpose and profit, and key levers for success.

We look forward to connecting with you.
