Private Banking Executive Moves | Q3 2023

Switzerland

Alpian

  • Schuyler Weiss, CEO and co-founder, has resigned from his post. His former deputy, Gianmarco Bonaita, will take over on an interim basis. The appointment has to still be confirmed by FINMA.

Banque Cantonale de Genève

  • Nicolas Krügel was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. He will replace the long-time CEO Blaise Goetschin on March 6th 2024.

Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL)

  • BIL Suisse has appointed Maryann Umoren Selfe as Head of Investment Solutions, starting the role at the beginning of November 2023.

Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB)

  • Domenico Sottile will take on his new role as the new Head of Key Clients and Asset Management Department as of December 1st the latest. He was also elected to the Executive Board.

Credit Suisse (CS)

  • The Global Head of Investment Banking & Capital Markets (IBCM), David Wah, has submitted his resignation. He only will be available until the end of the transition period.
  • Various positions were appointed for the period of transition. David Kostel and Marc Warm will take on the role as Co-Leaders in the Americas, while Michael Furber and Jonathan Grundy will be appointed the same role in Europe. Kuan-Ern-Tan and Christian Deiss will assume the position in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Andreas Gerber, the Head Corporate Clients left Credit Suisse Switzerland to take a break. Daniel Hunziker took over for Gerber with immediate effect. He is now performing the new role in addition to his original role.
  • Rolf Olmesdahl has been appointed as CS's new Chief Technology Officer in Switzerland, effective September 11 2023.
  • The COO, Francesca McDonagh, is leaving CS after exactly one year.

Crypto Finance

  • The company founder Jan Brzezek is moving from the CEO role to an advisory role. The new CEO will be Stijn Vander Straeten.
  • David Deller is appointed the role as the new CFO.

Deutsche Bank

  • Deutsche Bank has appointed Loïc Voide as the new CEO of Deutsche Bank (Switzerland) as of early October 2023.

EFG International

  • Christian Berchem will become EFG International’s new Country Manager in the UK and CEO of EFG Private Bank in London. He will begin his new role on December 4th. Berchem will succeed Richard Thomas, who decided to resign from his position.
  • Andre Portelli has been appointed new Head of Investment Solutions as of February 1st 2024. He will also become a member of the Executive Committee and the Global Business Committee.

Franklin Templeton

  • Christian Leger took over the position of Head of Distribution Switzerland.

HSBC

  • HSBC in Geneva has appointed Roberto Rosati as the new Head of the EMEA Region, excluding the UK.

Hypothekarbank Lenzburg

  • Marianne Wildi will only remain CEO until the Annual General Meeting in 2024. The search for a successor has been initiated.

Liechtensteinische Landesbank

  • René Zwicky will become new CEO of LLB Schweiz on January 3rd 2024. He replaces David Sarasin, who has asked to leave at the end of this year.

Lombard Odier

  • Annika Falkengren will step down as Managing Partner at the end of the year. She is succeeded as managing partner by Alexandre Meyer. He will assume his new role on January 1st 2024.

Société Générale

  • Société Générale Privat Banking Switzerland (SGPBS) has appointed Benoît Teutsch as Head of Private Banking and a member of the Executive Committee. He succeeds David Saliné, who is dedicating himself to new projects outside the group.

Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA)

  • Urban Anghern, Director of FINMA, has announced his resignation by the end of September. Ad interim, his deputy Birgit Rutishauser took over the operational management of the authority at the beginning of October.
  • The Former head of the Strategic Foundations division, Johanna Preisig, decided to leave FINMA.
  • Furthermore, Secretary General Edith Honegger has also decided to leave the authority.
  • René Keller, was newly elected as a new member of the Board of Directors as of beginning of 2024.

Swissquote

  • At the beginning of 2024, Nesto Verrier will become COO of Swissquote. He replaces Lino Finini, who will go into retirement.

UBS

  • Tom Wipf is given the task of leading the integration of Credit Suisse in the USA.
  • UBS's Global Wealth Management (GWM) business has hired Ulrike Hoffmann-Burchardi as its new CIO for equities. She takes up her new position in Zurich as of October 23rd.

Vontobel

  • Vontobel appoints Markus Pfister as new COO, who will also be a member of the holding company’s management board. He will take on the role at the beginning of 2024 and will replace Felix Lenhard, who is stepping down after more than 13 years in this post.

VP Bank

  • The Liechtenstein private bank VP Bank has to find a new chairman for its board of directors. Thomas Meier has decided not to stand for re-election at the upcoming annual general meeting after a total of six years and two terms as chairman.

Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB)

  • Gregor Kreuzer, Hans-Ueli Vogt and Claudia Zimmermann were newly elected to the Bank Council. They will take office in January 2024 and replace Anita Sigg, Peter Ruff and Stefan Wirth, who will step down from the Bank Council at the end of 2023 due to reaching the twelve-year term limit.
  • ZKB has appointed Monika Waber as its new Head of Human Resources. She will take on her new role by the end of January 2024.
