Private Banking Executive Moves | Q2 2024

Bank NOW

  • Erich Wild, who helped build up the bank and has managed it since 2006, left the institution at the beginning of May. Stefan Uebelhart is the new Head of the Financial Institution.

Banque Cramer

  • Since April 4th, the bank has a new permanent CEO. Thomas Müller, the former long-standing CEO of Banque CIC (Switzerland), fills the gap left by the departure of Erich Pfister last year.
  • In addition, Claude Suchet will join the Board of Directors as an independent member. 

Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank BLKB

  • The cantonal government has elected Kathrin Choffat and Roger Müller as new Members of the Bank Council for the current term of office until mid-2027. As previously announced, Stephan Naef left the Bank Council at the end of June.

Bitcoin Suisse

  • The Annual General Meeting has elected Ani Banerjee to the Board of Directors, succeeding Urs Bigger, who did not stand for re-election. At the same time, the Board of Directors appointed Marco Menotti as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. He succeeds Luzius Meisser, who remains a Member of the Board of Directors.

EFG International

  • Gerald Engel started as Group Head of Legal & Compliance Strategy, Change & Innovation on April 1st as a direct report of Vassiliki Dimitrakopoulou, Group Head of Legal & Compliance.

FINMA

  • Markus Jaggi has become the new Head of Communications at the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority at the beginning of May. He replaced Vinzenz Mathys, who was responsible for the authority's communications on an interim basis. Before, Jaggi was Head Communications at Credit Suisse Switzerland from 2021 to 2024.

Havilland Privatbank

  • Fabian Käslin resigned as CEO and left the Group in April.

Leonteq

  • Leonteq's CFO, Antoine Boublil, is leaving the company after less than four months. Hans Widler has now been appointed as his successor as CFO and Member of the Executive Board. 

Lombard Odier

  • Ali Janoudi was appointed Head of the "New Markets" region at the beginning of April. He will work as a Limited Partner from Geneva and will report to Frédéric Rochat, Managing Partner and Co-Head of the Private Clients division. He will also be a member of the Private Clients Executive Committee and will take over the role from Arnaud Leclercq, who will take on a new task and focus on key strategic customers.

Marcuard Family Office

  • Andreas Arni, who left Lombard Odier last autumn, is now working at Zurich-based Marcuard Family Office. A couple of months ago he started as deputy CEO.

Migros Bank

  • Migros Bank elected Bernhard Kobler as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors on May 23rd. He succeeds Fabrice Zumbrunnen, who is also taking his leave of the Group's financial institution following his resignation as Migros CEO. Consequently, the current President of the Executive Board of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, Mario Irminger, succeeds him and will assume the office of Vice President.
  • Ursula La Roche will be leaving the Board of Directors in the summer and a replacement is being sought.

OLZ Asset Management

  • The asset manager OLZ has appointed Hansruedi Köng to the Board of Directors. The former CEO of Postfinance started his post on 24 May 2024. 

Postfinance

  • Kurt Fuchs, the long-standing Head of Finance at Postfinance and, since the departure of Hansruedi Köng in February, also CEO ad interim, has announced his resignation at the end of May 2025. He will therefore leave the Swiss Post subsidiary before his normal retirement date.
  • The new Postfinance CEO Beat Röthlisberger started his position at the beginning of July.

Rahn+Bodmer

  • Eric Steinhauser resigns from his position as CEO of Rahn+Bodmer and leaves the company. His duties will be taken over by Urs Angst with immediate effect and until further notice. He was previously Head of Customer Consultancy.

Raiffeisen

  • Benjamin Anderegg will take over as Head of Trading at Raiffeisen Switzerland in the Corporate Clients, Treasury & Markets department on October 1st, 2024. He will succeed Werner Leuthard, who left the company at the end of March 2024.

Schroder & Co Bank

  • Schroder & Co Bank has appointed Isabelle Blöchlinger as Head of Private Banking in Zurich. She is taking on this newly created management role in addition to her duties as Head of Swiss Clients & IAM in the area of wealthy private clients and family offices and is responsible for the Swiss market.

Swiss National Bank

  • The Federal Council has appointed the new head of the SNB. Martin Schlegel will become Chairman and successor to Thomas Jordan
  • Petra Tschudin joins the three-member Board of Directors as a new member. Antoine Martin will be the new Vice President.

Syz Group

  • Alexandre de Montbas, acting as CFO of the Private Bank, has left the Syz Group. Robert Painchaud will function as interim CFO until a successor is found.

UBS

  • As of July 1, Simone Westerfeld became the COO of the Group Integration Office, which is responsible for integrating Credit Suisse at the group level. The former COO Penny Tunbridge has left the company.
  • Swiss CEO Sabine Keller-Busse is moving her former right-hand woman, Swiss COO Sabine Magri to the top of the private customer business. Andreas Künzler will replace her, assuming the role of Swiss COO and leading the integration for the Swiss region. 
  • Kaja Bertoli will lead the newly created Products, Channels & Marketing area. As the previous head of Client Solutions Switzerland, she has repositioned this area. 
  • UBS has appointed Iqbal Khan as President UBS Asia-Pacific effective since July 1st, in addition to his duties as Co-President Global Wealth Management. Khan replaces Edmund Koh in the important growth region, who will step down from the Group Executive Board on September 1st, 2024. However, he will remain active for the big bank as Regional Chair Asia-Pacific.
  • Alongside Khan, Rob Karofsky heads up the GWM division as President UBS Americas. He thus moves from the Investment Bank, of which he has been President since 2021, to wealth management.
  • The Investment Bank will then also be under a dual leadership with George Athanasopoulos and Marco Valla as Co-Presidents. 
  • Damian Vogel replaces Christian Bluhm as Group Chief Risk Officer. Bluhm will continue to be available to the company in an advisory capacity.
  • Stefan Seiler, Head Group HR and Corporate Services, will also be responsible for Group Communications and Branding in the future.
  • CS CEO Ulrich Körner has left at the end of June. He stepped down from the Group Executive Board following the merger of the parent companies UBS AG and Credit Suisse AG and will leave the bank later in the year.
  • Naureen Hassan, the Regional Head of UBS Americas, has left UBS on July 1st, 2024.
  • The newly created GWM Solutions unit will be headed by former CS banker Yves-Alain Sommerhalder.
  • André Helfenstein, the CEO of Credit Suisse Switzerland, has decided to leave the bank as part of the merger.

Vontobel

  • Vontobel has appointed Christian Zeitler as Head of Intermediary Switzerland. Most recently, he was Head of Switzerland Distribution at GAM Investments.

VP Bank

  • After five years in office, CEO Paul Arni left VP Bank Group in May. COO Urs Monstein has taken over the role as CEO on an interim basis. During the search for a successor, Arni will remain available as an advisor.
