Max von der Planitz
Max von der Planitz is a senior member of the firm’s global Consumer Practice. Max identifies and places leaders for marketing, sales, finance, operations and support function roles across the industry, with a particular focus on the omnichannel retail and e-commerce spaces. He helps clients to build and maintain effective leadership teams to drive digital and cultural transformation and sustainability initiatives. Max is based in Hamburg.
Before joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Max led corporate strategy and development at the Otto Group, an international conglomerate of e-commerce, logistics and financial services companies. His responsibilities spanned market intelligence and global strategy development, strategic and financial planning, and various strategic projects across the portfolio. Prior to this, Max spent five years at McKinsey & Company in Cologne and Hamburg, focusing primarily on advising clients in retail and logistics.
EDUCATION & AFFILIATIONS
Max holds an MSc, a German Diplom-Kaufmann and a French Diplôme de Grande École in management from ESCP-Europe and studied in Bonn, Paris, London and Berlin. He also holds a PhD in strategic management and CEO succession from the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. He speaks German, English and French.
