EMEA

Allianz

  • Katharina Amann, formerly CEO of Volkswagen Autoversicherung and Director of Automotive Retail at Allianz Germany, has been appointed Head of Business Division Asia Pacific at Allianz Group. In this position she reports to Renate Wagner, member of the Allianz Group Board.

  • Nina Simons has been named Global Head of MidCorp Underwriting at Allianz Commercial, a newly created role, reporting into Vanessa Maxwell, CUO and member of the AGCS Board.

  • Melissa Hill has been appointed Regional Head of Claims for North America for Allianz Commercial, replacing Frank Sapio, who is retiring. Hill reports to Shanil Williams, Commercial Managing Director for North America and member of the AGCS Board.

Aon

  • Andy Marcell has been appointed CEO of Global Solutions at Aon and remains CEO of Reinsurance until John Neal joins Aon. He continues to report to Aon President and CEO Greg Case and serves on the Aon Executive Committee. 

  • Lambros Lambrou, previously CEO of Human Capital, has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer at Aon. He reports to Aon President and CEO Greg Case and joins the Executive Committee.

Aviva

  • Seema Thaper has been appointed UKGI CRO at Aviva, subject to regulatory approval. She joins from Enstar Group, where she served as Group CRO.

  • Steven Bridger has been appointed Chief Claims Officer for Aviva UKGI. He was most recently CEO of Aviva Health UK.

HDI Group

  • Christian Wegener took over as Head of Investment Management at HDI Global. He succeeds Thorsten Wölbern, who takes on new challenges within the company.

  • HDI Global has appointed Phil McDowell as Global Sales & Distribution Lead for International Programmes and Captives.

Helvetia / Baloise

  • Helvetia und Baloise announced the plan to join forces to create the second largest insurance group in Switzerland and a leading European insurer.

  • Fabian Rupprecht (CEO of Helvetia) has been named CEO of the combined entity, Michael Müller (CEO of Baloise) as Deputy CEO and Head of Integration; Matthias Henny (from Baloise) has been named CFO; André Keller (from Helvetia) Chief Investment Officer.

Hiscox

  • Hiscox appoints Harriet Hanna as COO for Hiscox Syndicates, reporting to Hiscox London Market’s CEO Kate Markham. Hanna will sit on the Hiscox London Market Leadership Team and join the Hiscox Syndicates Board.

  • Hiscox appoints Phil Withey as Chief Technology Officer for Hiscox London Market. He will report jointly to Hiscox Group Chief Information Officer Chris Loake and Hiscox London Market CEO Kate Markham and will be part of the Hiscox London Market leadership team.

  • Nick Sinkus has been appointed CUO at Hiscox USA. He will report to Mary Boyd, CEO of Hiscox USA, and Jo Musselle, CUO of Hiscox Group, and will serve on the Hiscox US Leadership Team as well as the Hiscox Group Underwriting Leadership Team. He joins from Chubb. 

Mapfre

  • José Luis Jiménez Guajardo-Fajardo has been appointed Group CFO of Mapfre, succeeding Fernando Mata Verdejo, who stepped down. Jiménez has also joined the Board of Directors.

  • Juan Bernal Aranda has been appointed as Chief Investment Officer of Mapfre.

Lloyd’s

  • Patrick Tiernan has been named CEO Lloyd’s, succeeding John Neal.

  • Patrick Tiernan’s prior position as Chief of Markets has been divided into two distinct roles: Chief of Market Oversight (Caroline Sandeman-Allen) and Chief of Market Performance (Rachel Turk), both of which now sit on the Executive Team and report into Patrick Tiernan.

  • Jonathan May has been appointed to the Executive Team in his current position as CEO of Lloyd’s Insurance, now reporting into the CEO – Patrick Tiernan – directly.

  • Dawn Miller continues in her role as Chief Commercial Officer and CEO, Americas. In addition to her existing roles, she will assume responsibility for the Corporate Affairs function.

Scor

  • Philipp Rüede has been appointed CEO of Scor L&H and joins Scor’s Executive Committee. He succeeds Frieder Knüpling.

Swiss Life

  • Per Erikson has been appointed Group Chief Investment Officer and CEO of Swiss Life Asset Manager and becomes a member of the Group Executive Team.

Swiss Re

  • Bernhard Kaufmann has been appointed Group CRO at Swiss Re, succeeding Patrick Raaflaub. He joins from Helvetia, where he is currently Group CRO.

Willis Towers Watson

  • Eric McMurray has been appointed Chairman of Health, Wealth & Career at WTW. 

  • Anne Pullum has been appointed Global Leader of Health & Benefits at WTW, succeeding Eric McMurray. She will continue as Co-Head of Corporate Development and serve on the firm’s executive leadership team.

  • Craig Baker has been appointed Chief Investment Strategist at WTW, after serving 10 years as Global Chief Investment Officer. He will continue leading the Alliance Witan portfolio.

  • Jon Pliner has been appointed Global Chief Investment Officer at WTW, succeeding Baker. He was previously Deputy CIO and Head of Delegated Portfolio Management in the U.S.

Zurich Insurance

  • Jeff Rutledge has been appointed CEO of Zurich Cover-More. He previously served as President and CEO of AIG Travel and succeeds David Fike, who is retiring.

  • Emily Yoo has been appointed Head of Operations & Transformation at Zurich Cover-More. She was previously Transformation Director and will lead the integration of Travel Guard into Zurich.

AMERICAS

Arch Capital

  • William Soares, CUO Casualty and Specialty is promoted to President of Arch Re.

  • Pierre Jal has been appointed President of Arch Re Europe.

  • David Seyller is promoted to CUO of Arch Re Europe, succeeding Pierre Jal.

  • Soares and Jal report to Jerome Halgan, President and CUO of Arch Re Group, Seyller reports to Jal.

Berkshire Hathaway

  • Greg Abel has been named CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He succeeds Warren Buffett.

Chubb

  • Tim Boroughs has been named Vice Chairman, Chubb Group and Executive Chairman, Asset Management. He previously served as Chief Investment Officer Chubb and its predecessor ACE.

  • Chris Hogan has been promoted to SVP, Chubb Group and Chief Investment Officer. He joined in 2023 from Goldman Sachs, where he was Co-CIO for GSAM’s Fixed Income Hedge Fund.

Great West Life Co

  • David Harney has been appointed President and CEO of Great-West Lifeco and Canada Life, succeeding Paul Mahon, who will retire and serve as Senior Advisor until early 2026.

  • Lindsey Rix-Broom has been appointed CEO, Europe at Great-West Lifeco. She was previously CEO of Canada Life U.K., a role she will retain until a successor has been named.

Hanover Insurance Group

  • Richard W. Lavey has been appointed COO at Hanover Insurance Group, a newly created role. He retains leadership of personal lines, core commercial, and several strategic business functions.

The Hartford

  • Shekar Pannala has been appointed Chief Information Officer at The Hartford, overseeing technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and cloud modernization.

  • Jeffery Hawkins has been named Chief Data, AI and Operations Officer at The Hartford. He was previously CIO at CVS Health and held senior roles at Humana.

  • Hawkins and Pannala succeed Deepa Soni, former Chief Information and Operations Officer, who has resigned to pursue an external opportunity.

Liberty Mutual

  • Timothy M. Sweeney has been elected Chairman of Liberty Mutual, succeeding David H. Long, who is retiring after 40 years with the company. Sweeney continues as President and CEO.

Lincoln Financial

  • Tom Anfuso has been appointed SVP and Chief Technology Officer at Lincoln Financial. He joins from JPMorgan Chase, where he was CTO for the Connected Commerce line of business.

Manulife

  • Steve Finch has been appointed President and CEO of Manulife Asia, succeeding Phil Witherington. He was previously Manulife’s Chief Actuary.

  • Stephanie Fadous has been appointed Chief Actuary at Manulife, succeeding Steve Finch. She was previously Global Treasurer and Head of Capital Management. Hung Ko succeeds her, expanding his current role of Head of Investor Relations.

Markel

  • Andrew McMellin is promoted to President, International at Markel. He previously was Managing Director, Wholesale Markel.

  • Glenn Harris has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Markel Insurance. He most recently was Managing Executive, Global Distribution Strategies and Business Development.

  • Henry Gardener has been appointed CRO at Markel Insurance. He was previously Senior Managing Director of Legal and CRO, International.

MetLife

  • Jude Driscoll, President of MetLife Investment Management, is retiring.

  • Brian Funk is succeeding Jude Driscoll as President of MetLife Investment Management. He previously served as interim president and Global Head of Private Capital.

  • Jane Slusark has been appointed Chief Communications Officer at MetLife. She joins from Principal Financial Group, where she was Head of Global Communications.

Nationwide

  • Michael Tripp has been appointed Head of Personal Lines Sales and Distribution at Nationwide. He joins from AmTrust, where he led the MidAmerica Region.

Reinsurance Group of America

  • My Chi To has been appointed EVP, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary at RGA. She joins from Voya Financial and succeeds Bill Hutton, who is retiring after 27 years with the firm.

Unum Group

  • Shelia Anderson has been appointed EVP and Chief Information & Digital Officer at Unum Group, after serving as EVP & CIO at Aflac. She succeeds Puneet Bhasin, who has left Unum Group.

USAA

  • Jenna Saucedo-Herrera was appointed Head of Corporate Impact at USAA. She joins from greater:SATX Regional Economic Partnership, where she served as President and CEO.

  • Brian Goldman has been appointed CRO at USAA. He was previously CRO at Comerica Bank and has also held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and Citibank.

APAC 

Dai-ichi Life

  • Hideyuki Ohashi has been promoted to Managing Executive Officer, Group CRO; previously Executive Officer, CRO.

  • Hirotaka Noji appointed Expert Executive Officer, Group Chief Accounting Officer. He was previously General Manager of the Accounting Unit at Dai-ichi Life Holdings.

  • Kaori Sakamoto appointed Executive Officer, Group Chief Brand and Culture Officer. She was previously General Manager of Corporate Communications Unit at Dai-ichi Life Holdings.

  • Makoto Goda, Managing Executive Officer, Business Head, Protection (Japan), will retire from the holding company but remain in his role at The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co., Ltd.

  • Yukiko Sakai appointed Executive Officer, Group Chief Sustainability Officer. She was previously a Partner at McKinsey & Company.

  • Figen Ulgen promoted to Executive Officer, Group Chief Data and AI Officer; previously Expert Executive Officer, Chief Data and AI Officer.

Prudential plc

  • Naveen Tahilyani has been appointed Regional CEO for India, Africa, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar at Prudential plc. He succeeds Solmaz Altin, who is returning to Europe. Naveen was previously Managing Director and CEO of Tata Digital and Tata AIA.

  • Rajeev Mittal has been appointed CEO of Eastspring Investments, Prudential’s asset management arm. He joins from Fidelity International, where he was Head of Asia. He succeeds Bill Maldonado, who is retiring.

Sompo

  • Kenneth Reilly was appointed as CEO, Insurance, Asia Pacific, succeeding Daniel Neo who is retiring. Reilly will continue to report into James Shea.

  • Nick Burnet was appointed Group Deputy CFO of Sompo Holdings and CFO of Sompo P&C in April 2025, having previously served as CFO of Sompo International. He succeeds Tsutomu Yamaguchi.
