EMEA Moves

Aon

  • John Cullen is stepping down from his role as CEO of Commercial Risk, Health and Affinity in EMEA (excluding the UK) at the end of June. Eduardo Davila, who is currently CEO of Aon Iberia and Middle East, will be succeeding him.
  • Julie Page, currently CEO of Commercial Risk, Health and Affinity for the UK and Aon UK, will be appointed to CEO of the UK region on the future Aon Executive Committee, upon the merger of WTW and Aon.
  • Carlo Clavarino, Executive Chairman, International Business, will join the global Aon Operating Committee as chairman.
  • Tracie Thompson will be Chief Broking Officer for the EMEA region, excluding the UK.

Allianz

  • Sabia Schwarzer, previously Head of Group Communication, is leaving the insurance industry to perform a role of the same title at Merck.

Aviva

  • Andrea Montague is promoted to Chief Risk Officer, from her previous role as Group Chief Financial Controller.
  • John Cummings, Aviva’s Group Chief Information Officer, has been appointed to the firm’s executive committee.

AXA

  • Dane Mahoney is appointed as Global Head of Political Risk, Credit & Bond Risk Management, where he will define, monitor, and steer risk appetite for the PRCB team as part of the execution and development of the global underwriting strategy for the group.

Chub

  • Rahelia Nazir is appointed as Head of Cyber & Technology for Overseas General Insurance, based in London, where she will be responsible for overseeing underwriting, strategy, product development, business development, and financial performance.
  • David Furby, Regional President, Europe, Middle East and Africa, will be assuming the additional role of President of Chubb Global Markets alongside his current responsibilities.

MS Amlin

  • Robert Wiest will assume the position of CEO of the group, taking the position in January. He leaves his previous role as Division Chief Operating Officer at Swiss Re. He succeeds Martin Albers, chairman of the board, who has been serving as CEO on an interim basis.
  • Dr Michael Koller will be replacing Catherine Farnworth as Chief Risk Officer, as she joins Lloyd’s ERS group.

SCOR

  • Romain Launay, previously Group Chief Operating Officer, will step into the role of Deputy CEO of SCOR Global P&C and CEO of Specialty Insurance.
  • Frieder Knüpling, previously Group Chief Risk Officer, is appointed CEO of SCOR Global Life, succeeding Paolo De Martin, who has decided to pursue a new direction in his career, having worked at the company for 7 years.
  • Fabian Uffer, previously Group Head of Risk Modelling, joins the Group Executive Committee as Chief Risk Officer.
  • Claire Le Gall-Robinson, Group General Secretary, has been appointed Group Chief Sustainability Officer alongside her current role. In addition to her existing responsibilities, she will manage Human Resources, Communications and Hub operations.
  • François de Varenne, CEO of SCOR Global Investments, will oversee an enlarged area of leadership including investments, and will be in charge of the Group's transformation.

Swiss Re

  • Swiss Re announces plans to create a central cyber underwriting team, with John Coletti joining as Head of Global Cyber. Maya Bundt, the current Head of Cyber Solutions, has decided to take on a newly created role at the Swiss Re Institute's Cyber Centre of Competence.
  • Jason Richards has been appointed Country President and CEO UK & Ireland. He will be succeeded in his previous role, Global Head of Casualty, by Julie Stephenson. She is joining from CAN, where she served as SVP and CEO of middle market.
  • Marilyn Blattner-Hoyle is appointed as Global Head of Trade Finance within the company’s Global Credit Surety Unit.

Willis Towers Watson

  • Andrew Krasner will succeed Michael J. Burwell as Chief Financial Officer.
  • Carl Hess will succeed John Haley, and become the company’s new President. He currently holds the position of Head of Investment, Risk and Reinsurance in the business segment.
  • Kristy Banas will become the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). She currently works as the company’s Global Talent Advisor for Human Capital and Benefits and recently was the Global Sponsor of human resources (HR) integration planning.
  • Joe Gunn will take on a new role as Chairman of Corporate Risk and Broking North America, focusing on business development, senior level talent acquisition and retention, market relationship management and other aspects of strategy execution in this business.
  • Nicolas Aubert will continue in his current roles as Head of Great Britain and CEO of Willis Limited to ensure a smooth transition of his responsibilities and will leave thereafter to pursue new interests.

Zurich Insurance Group

  • Giovanni Giuliani will become CEO of Zurich Italy, replacing Alessandro Castellano.
  • Peter Kasahara will become Group Chief Data Officer, covering machine learning and helping to drive the group’s digital transformation. He joins from PWC, where he was a managing partner for the firm’s digital intelligence arm.
  • Paolo Mantero will join the role of Group Strategy Officer, a role previously held by Giovanni Giuliani.
  • Annarita Roscino is appointed to Group Claims Data and Insights Leader, where she will focus on data and insight strategy and developing data science capabilities. She was previously Head of Predictive Analytics in UK Operations.
  • Nelcia Oliveira will be the Regional Chief Claims Officer for Latin America, from her previous role as Head of Technical Claims Excellence for Latin America.

 

Americas/Asia-Pacific

AIG

  • A former Allianz SE executive, Ciara Brady has been appointed to the position of International Causality Chief Underwriting Officer. Brady succeeds Patrick Mailloux, who has retired from the company.
  • Sabra Purtill has been named Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer. Ms. Purtill has been serving as interim Chief Risk Officer for AIG since February 2021, and will oversee AIG’s corporate risk management strategy on an enterprise-wide basis.

Everest Re

  • Andrew McBride joins the firm as Senior Vice President, Global Head of Claims from Chubb. He will be based in London.

MetLife

  • Michael Roberts will join the company as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. He will lead Global Brand and Marketing with responsibility for designing modern, value-driven marketing solutions to help MetLife build remarkable and enduring customer relationships and successfully execute on its strategy. Roberts succeeds Esther Lee, who retired at the end of June.

Prudential Financial

  • Jessica Jones joins the firm as Head of Asia, from her previous position as Managing Director and Head of Retail Client Business (ex. Japan) at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
