Katherine Armstrong manages executive searches and advises Boards for non-profit organizations. She has particular expertise in working with cultural institutions, focusing on senior leadership placements for museums, cultural heritage organizations, performing arts institutions, and arts organizations more broadly. Based in Boston, she also leads high-profile searches in education, philanthropy, and conservation.
Recent Client Experience
Katherine has recruited Executive Directors and CEO’s for a wide range of cultural institutions including civic, private, and campus-based fine arts museums, science museums, and both national and global historic preservation organizations. Outside of the cultural arena, Katherine recently recruited the CEO of a leading community foundation, CEO of a national marine conservation organization, and founding CEO of an impact investing non-profit. Some of her other recent searches have included chief marketing officers, chief human resources officers, and chief financial officers.
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Katherine was with Dunleavy & Associates where she specialized in providing professional services to nonprofit organizations as well as leading engagements focused on strategic planning, marketing, and fundraising. She has an extensive track record of working with executive leadership teams and Boards of non-profit organizations at local, regional, and national levels. Her client experience spans health and human services agencies, mental and behavioral healthcare providers, economic and community development organizations, cultural and educational institutions, and national foundations. During her tenure with Dunleavy & Associates, she co-authored a book with the CEO of a long-time client in the mental and behavioral health space.
Katherine received her B.A. in Art History from Bowdoin College.
