Meetings between HR teams and candidates, that can define the destiny of a professional or even change a company journey during a crisis, are building new etiquette rules due to social distance requirements. Headhunters and HR teams are adapting their way of work to find the best professionals, despite this pandemic's challenging times.

Marcio Gadaleta, consultant at Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA), a global leadership advisory and search firm, has just finished a CEO and CFO search for an energy company. “Since the first month of pandemic we've been signing contracts with clients that we knew online and we knew the candidates only by video conference," says Marcio.

Before social distancing, Gadaleta used to interact with around 40 candidates per month. Nowadays, all face-to-face appointments are eliminated, attending the new RRA safety guidelines. With the search process being virtual, the executive's schedule now sees 60 online meetings per month, an increase of 50%. Conference calls to discuss a succession plan can take up to 3 hours. There is an increasing demand for positions in the supply chain and logistics sectors, due to the growth of online sales and home delivery, says Gadaleta.​
