Few Women Among Top Paid Executives

The Houston Chronicle published their list of the top paid executives in 2012, and asked Stephen Newton of Russell Reynolds Associates to comment on the progress of gender equality at the senior level.
Stephen Newton, area manager for the Houston office of Russell Reynolds Associates, said he's looking to fill a board seat and has found several women - CFOs, general counsels and other "C" suite executives - who would be exceptional candidates.
"These women are at the top of their games," declared Newton.
One reason so many women are in the pipeline, Newton said, is that law firms and accounting firms have done a good job of gender integration, moving women as well as men into the ranks of partners, section leaders and firm management. That process has developed a talent pool of women well-qualified to move into key corporate positions such as general counsel and chief financial officer, he said.
