13% of New PM Hires in 2018 Were Women
The Ignites article, “13% of New PM Hires in 2018 Were Women,” quoted Russell Reynolds Associates Consultant Debra Brown on why it’s important for portfolio management companies to hire women now. The article is excerpted below.
Some 13% of portfolio managers named to funds during the first 11 months of 2018 were women, data shows.
That’s up 2 percentage points from last year, according to data from Flowspring, a Colorado-based fintech company that scrapes data from mutual fund prospectuses.
“[Companies] have really made an effort to counteract some of the issues that existed that resulted in the loss of talented senior women, and prevented them from growing up through the organization,” says Deb Brown, a consultant at Russell Reynolds Associates.
“The challenge hasn’t been bringing women into the industry,” says Russell Reynolds’s Brown. “It’s keeping them.”
