John Long is a key member of the Retail Practice in the Consumer Sector. With more than 30 years of experience advising senior leadership at top-performing retail and consumer products companies, he works to align executives and drive sustainable results for his clients. John has also worked closely with private equity firms on both regional and international projects. He is based in Dallas.
John joined Russell Reynolds Associates from Bain & Co., where he was a Partner. He has held operating executive roles at Macy’s, SunVision and Beiersdorf, as well as senior advisor roles to Boards and CEOs of globally recognized companies, including Apple, Disney, Ikea, Lego, McDonald’s, Nike, UPS, Warner Bros. and Walmart, to name a few. John has also worked across geographies, leading projects in more than 15 countries across five continents. He is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry conferences, and has been a guest on a number of media outlets.
John holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
