Jacqueline “Jackie" Arends leads Russell Reynolds Associates' Aviation, Aerospace and Defense Practice and serves as a core member of the Board & CEO Advisory Partners and Corporate Affairs Officers Practice. With more than 20 years of experience at the intersection of politics, government and industry, Jackie is renowned for her success leading US and global CEO, board and executive-level searches for a wide range of corporations and trade associations. She also specializes in advising clients on succession planning, leadership transitions and recruitment of board directors. Jackie is based in Washington, DC.
Jackie joined Russell Reynolds after 17 years with another internationally recognized executive search firm. During her tenure there, she founded and led the firm's government relations practice and led its aerospace and defense practice globally, managing hundreds of CEO and C-suite-level searches across multiple industries. Jackie has special experience advising foreign-owned defense companies operating in the US, helping them to build SSA and proxy boards, and has also placed CEOs and senior leaders in major trade associations across diverse sectors both in and outside of Washington, DC.
Jackie has deep expertise in the defense and national security arena, having served two US Presidents and two Secretaries of Defense in senior roles, advising on all Senate confirmed personnel appointments within the national security portfolio, including the Departments of Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, State and Veterans Affairs, as well as national security agencies, such as the NSC, CIA, DNI, NSC and NGA. Additionally, she was responsible for all presidential appointments to national security boards and commissions, including members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. In recognition of her service, Jackie was awarded the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Public Service and the Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award.
EDUCATION & AFFILIATIONS
Jackie received her JD from Washington and Lee University School of Law and is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont. She is fluent in German, French and Danish. She is a member of the Maryland Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the Supreme Court Bar, as well as a member of the Economic Club of Washington.
