Based in Frankfurt, Dr. Joachim Bohner works with boards and top-executives to design and execute tailor-made assessment programs, especially against the backdrop of major strategic and cultural change processes. Joachim has conducted a wide range of assignments for leading organizations in more than 40 countries, helping clients across all industries identify, select, and grow their senior leadership talent. He has advised clients by providing insight on C-Suite success in hiring decisions, senior-level succession planning, M&A integration, as well as leadership development. Joachim is a senior member of the firm's Global Leadership and Succession practice, which guides boards and chief executive officers regarding how to build excellent leadership teams. Additionally, he is a member of the Global D&I practice.
Recent Client Experience
Joachim’s recent assignments include helping the Chairman and the CEO of a global player to identify C-level successors within the organization and close the development gaps of the assessed managers. He recently conducted a cultural due diligence over the course of an acquisition to identify potential cultural risks and the best way to integrate the company after the deal is closed. In addition, he supported executives in their development as a trusted advisor to improve their performance in a tailor-made and highly focused process.
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Joachim was the global head of management assessment at Mercer and a principal member of their human capital leadership team in central Europe. Previously, he was a partner with Oliver Wyman Delta and responsible for management assessment and senior executive coaching in Europe. Before that, he spent 10 years with the Hay Group in Frankfurt, where he was responsible for executive assessments, team effectiveness, senior executive coaching, and leadership development as practice head. He started his professional career at Wella in the executive development department.

Joachim has published a variety of articles and interviews in more than 50 newspapers and business magazines, on topics such as key success factors for the C-suite, Diversity & Inclusion, digital transformation, and top-management assessments. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Urban Index Institute.
Joachim received his B.Sc. in psychology from the University of Konstanz and his M.Sc. (Diplom-Psychologe) and his Ph.D. in psychology from Technische Universität Darmstadt in the special research field of “improving technical products in computer-based environments”. He is fluent in German and English and has a working knowledge of French.
