Donald Lieb

Donald Lieb is based in Dallas and leads the firm's Chemical and Process Industries Practice in the Americas. Over his many years with Russell Reynolds Associates he has conducted numerous CEO, president, board director, general management and other senior executive search assignments for leading companies within the process industries. His clients include a wide variety of global, world-class chemical, specialty material, and technology companies and private equity/venture capital groups.

Recent Client Experience

Don has completed a number of CEO and board of director assignments for Fortune 500 companies within the process industries over the last two years. In so doing, he has advised and worked closely with governance committees and boards of some of the top companies within the industry. His experience crosses a variety of functional roles, including senior financial, manufacturing, general management, and technology positions. An expert in executive assessment, he has also conducted large, senior-level assessments for succession planning purposes. Don also works closely with European and Asian colleagues in serving U.S.-based, multi-national clients on global search assignments.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates in 1992, Don was President and Co-Founder of a Dallas-based LBO firm. He earlier served as President and CEO of a privately held oil and gas exploration and production and independent power company. Before that, Don had an 11-year long career in the chemicals industry, with Diamond Shamrock Corporation, holding various global technology, business and general management positions within both the chemicals and energy sectors.

Additional Professional Activities

Don is active in a variety of chemical industry conferences and activities. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army.

Education

Don received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
