Thomas Tomkos

Based in Hamburg, Thomas Tomkos is the Country Manager for the firm's German operations, with offices in Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich and leads the Airlines, Aerospace and Defense Practice. His focus is on senior executive and non-executive board recruitment. He serves industrial and infrastructural clients including aviation and aerospace companies like airports, service providers, and aircraft financing/leasing companies globally. He also works on high-profile searches in the transportation/infrastructure and energy sector, including the renewable and cleantech sector. Thomas has completed numerous high-profile searches for board members, presidents and CEOs of world-leading companies.

Recent Client Experience

Thomas has worked on the recruitment of members of the board for leading aviation companies and NEDs in the cleantech sector. Moreover he has collaborated with the supervisory boards of large international and German utility providers in the recruitment of CEOs, CFOs, and Chief Sales & Marketing Officers. Thomas also has conducted important leadership assessments and recruitments of Non Executive Directors for advisory/supervisory boards. He conducts CFO assignments across different sectors and worked for management consultancies in partner-level recruitment.

Previous Experience

Thomas started his career as a strategy consultant within Gemini Consulting in Berlin and moved to help set-up a strategy consultancy in Frankfurt, where he became head of both its strategy and aviation industry practice. Before joining Russell Reynolds Associates, he held an executive position within the LTU Group - one of Germany's leading airlines - as Managing Director of LTU Aircraft Maintenance.

Education

Thomas studied physics and mathematics at the University of Hamburg and received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics. He is fluent in German, Greek and English.
