Russell Reynolds Associates Names Clarke Murphy Next President and CEO
Murphy to Succeed Matthew Wright on April 2, 2012
New York– Global executive search and assessment firm Russell Reynolds Associates today announced that Clarke Murphy will succeed Matthew Wright as the firm’s next President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Murphy will take office on April 2, 2012 when Matthew Wright steps down from the role.

Mr. Murphy has more than 24 years of executive search and assessment experience, having joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 1988. In 1992, he moved to Frankfurt to help build the firm’s German business before moving to London a year later. In 1998, he returned to New York and assumed leadership of the firm’s activities in the United States and subsequently for the Americas. He served on the firm’s elected Executive Committee from 1999 to 2002. In 2007, he was appointed global leader of the CEO/Board Practice and has worked closely with colleagues in all regions to build the firm’s presence in the leading boardrooms of the world. Before joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Clarke worked in the banking sector. He graduated from the University of Virginia.
Clarke brings a powerful combination of leadership skills and intellectual capital to this role. As global leader of the firm’s CEO/Board Practice since 2007, his counsel has made a lasting impression on the development and depth of CEO succession planning, board governance and many other issues critical to our clients’ success.

In addition to his work at Russell Reynolds Associates, Mr. Murphy has served on the board of various nonprofit organizations including the New York City Ballet and is a former trustee of the College Foundation of the University of Virginia.
