Mark Unger

Mark Unger specializes in serving financial services clients. Based in Frankfurt, he has conducted high-profile searches in investment banking, asset and wealth management and retail banking, including several board positions for major financial services organizations. Moreover, he has led some major executive assessment projects within the German financial services sector and is co-leading one of the firm's major global client relationships.

Recent Client Experience

Mark's recent assignments within the sector include strategic advisory projects at CEO, board and advisory board level. From a recruiting perspective, Mark conducted several MD recruitments for global corporate and investment banks in areas such as M&A, FIG and transport & logistics. He also recruited a chief risk officer and a board member capital markets for a major German bank. Mark helped in building a well-connected advisory board for a pre-eminent private equity firm and has recruited  the chairman of the advisory board for a major global corporate and investment bank in Germany. Mark's most recent executive assessment project was to help rebuild the management board of a major financial institution in Germany.

Previous Experience

Mark has more than 10 years of executive search experience with Russell Reynolds Associates. Prior to joining the firm, Mark was with ABN AMRO, where he was director and senior equity analyst for branded consumer goods and retail companies. Previously, he was a financial analyst for consumer goods and retail companies at Sal. Oppenheim Jr. & Cie. Before that, Mark served as a consultant for the financial services industry in Germany and, prior to this, founded his own firm, which focused on capital market-oriented software solutions for the asset management industry.

Education

Mark studied in Paris and London prior to receiving his B.A., M.B.A and Ph.D. from the University of Trier. He is fluent in German, English and French.
