Grace Gu is a core member of the firm’s Consumer Sector, where she advises, recruits and helps retain senior executives for Fortune 500 and leading Chinese privately-owned and state-owned enterprises in the Retail and Luxury, Consumer Products and Services, and Consumer Digital and Media Practices. Furthering her work with consumer-facing and lifestyle-influencing companies, she is a key member of the Digital Transformation Practice, guiding clients as they address the impact that disruptive innovation is having on organizations and leadership in China and the Asia Pacific region. Grace is based in Shanghai.
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Grace founded and ran Shanghai Camedeo Internet Corporation, an internet company which serves as a bridge between fashion-forward foreign brands and the Chinese market, through digital marketing and e-commerce. Before that, she worked for STAR, part of News Corporation, as General Manager for Channel [V], where she was responsible for operations of the China business. Previously, Grace was the Senior Marketing Manager for the China Division of Elle, Hachette Filipacchi Media. During her wide range of media experience, Grace advised advertisers from leading consumer products companies on improving their branding and marketing performance. She began her career at Zhejiang Radio & TV Group, a large Chinese state-owned media corporation, where she worked as Editor, Producer and Director of the International Communications Department.
Grace received her BA in management of foreign affairs from Shanghai Foreign Studies University and her MBA from INSEAD, France. She is fluent in Chinese, English and French.
