Clarke Murphy

Clarke Murphy is the Chief Executive Officer of Russell Reynolds Associates and serves on the Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he was the Global Leader of the firm's CEO/Board Services practice.

While at Russell Reynolds Associates, Clarke has conducted a number of significant projects in the industry, including Board of Director searches for Wells Fargo, UnitedHealth Group, MSCI, and Calpine Corporation. He has also conducted CEO assignments for MasterCard, Harley Davidson, Old Mutual US, Walgreens, and The Hartford, among others. In addition, he has led notable searches in the private equity industry including searches for the Carlyle Group and Warburg Pincus.

Previous Experience

Clarke has over 20 years of experience in the executive recruiting industry and joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 1988. Now based in New York, he also spent time in the firm's Frankfurt office and later in London, where he served as Deputy Country Manager. He has also acted as Head of the Americas. Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, he was a commercial banking officer in the Corporate Banking Division of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. in New York.

Additional Professional Activities

Clarke is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Convent of the Sacred Heart School. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the New York City Ballet and a former Trustee of the College Foundation of the University of Virginia.

Education

Clarke received his B.A. in history from the University of Virginia.
